Mission Statement: Artistic Resources Team, A.R.T. for Children, is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and improving the arts curriculum for Templeton’s Elementary students.
Conceived by parents, A.R.T. for Children is a response to the unprecedented financial cutbacks impacting our district. A.R.T. for Children is collaborating with the T.U.S.D. to maintain and enhance the stimulating, enriching educational environment our district has enjoyed over the years. It is a year long, comprehensive program built into the school curriculum that provides instruction to every child in grades K-5. We are dedicated to delivering an enriched art curriculum taught by professionals.
*Arts education increases interest in academic learning, cognitive and basic skills development and the development of academic achievement skills. (Konrad, R.R., Empathy, Arts and Social Studies, 2000)
*Early art and music training provides children a better ability to visualize complex mathematical problems and solve them creatively.
*A well-rounded arts education increases students' attendance and behavior.
*Art stimulates both sides of the brain.
*Students who participate in school band or orchestra have the lowest levels of current, and lifelong, use of alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drugs among any group in our society.
